So, the gang at Table Top Gamers (TTG) decided it’s time for us to get back into the most popular Science Fiction miniatures game on the market, Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 (40K.) Now the biggest problem with all this is that we at TTG love our custom armies, with special fluff and uniqueness to it. What better way to get into the game than creating a completely custom chapter for Space Marines? So we decided that something “official” for TTG needed to be created using our colors. What is the number one problem with all this? TIME! That’s right, the time it takes to create all that awesome fluff, all that awesome color scheme..Etc, etc…
So, it was decided to create the first official Table Top Gamers Contest.
That’s right…a free Contest! so, without too much rambling... TTG is proud to present...
TTG’s “Design a Space Marine Chapter/Chaos Space Marine Legion” Contest!
The goal of this contest is to create either a Space Marine Chapter or a Chaos Space Marine Legion for the Warhammer 40K Universe. That’s right! We are even letting you, the TTG member, chose either a Space Marine Chapter, or a Chaos Legion!
There are two awards for the Contest: a paint scheme award and a background/story/fluff award. The first part is the story fluff of the Chapter or Legion. Every good custom chapter needs some awesome fluff…and the TTG Chapter is no exception. The fluff needs to fit into the 40K universe, and needs to be believable. You never know when the TTG chapter will make an appearance at a GT or major tournament. Also, original work is pretty important. We want our Chapter or Legion to be unique, and something people worked on…not copied from something else. That being said, pretty much everything else is free game.
The second award is something a little stricter…the Chapter/Legion’s paint Scheme. Because this is going to be the official Table Top Gamers’ Army, we would like to use the TTG colors: Grey, Red, and Black. Other colors can be used, but the three primaries need to be Grey, Red, and Black.
Prizes: The winner of each category will receive one unit box for Warhammer 40K. This unit box can be for any faction, and can be whatever the winner wants with a retail value of fifty US dollars or less. TTG will also cover shipping and insurance. TTG will ship overseas, but the winner is responsible for any extra charges (tariff, taxes, etc) and any special requirements for shipment to said country.
Judging: Judging will be handled like many of today’s popular reality TV shows. The TTG Staff will rate the entries and the registered members of TTG will also rate the entries. The Judge’s score will make up of 50% of the score, and the members will make up the other 50%. The combined score will be tallied and that will be the total overall score for each entry. At the end of the first week of scoring, the bottom 50% of the entries will be removed, and scoring will start over. At the end of the second week, the top 25% of the remaining entries will move on to the final round. In that final round, the top story entry and the top color scheme entry will be selected as our winners.
This is your opportunity to create a Chapter/Legion without doing any of the hard work (customizing models…painting, buying models, etc…etc…)
Entry Submissions: So, how do you submit your entry? Well, for better tracking of users and their entries, we ask that contestants post their entries in the “a Space Marine Chapter/Chaos Space Marine Legion” forum located in the “TTG Contest” section of the forums. Background should be posted directly into the forums as a post. Color Schemes need to be posted as images, and TTG is willing to host the images if needed. The Color Scheme entry does not have to match the faction selected via Background.
Hints: Its only fair that everyone gets some hints when it comes to the background. I can tell you that a majority of the TTG Staff are interested in the religious aspect of the 40K universe. A long time ago, some of the TTG Staff played both Word Bearers and a zealot Space Marine army with multiple Chaplains. Also, aggressive armies normally do well with the TTG Staff. That being said, it is anyone’s game as the Members of TTG also get a vote.
Deadline: The Entry Submission deadline is Saturday, November 24th at 11:59 pm, Eastern Standard Time. Judging will began Monday, November 26th at Noon, EST. The first round of voting will end December 1st at 11:59 pm, EST. The second round of voting will start Monday, December 3rd at noon, EST. The second round of voting will end Saturday, December 8th at 11:59 pm, EST. The final round of voting will start Monday, December 10th at noon, EST, at will end Saturday, December 16th at 11:59 pm, EST. The final results of the contest will be posted before Tuesday, December 19th.
Rules: Every contest needs rules right? Here are ours: This contest is open to registered members of Table Top Gamers. If you want to enter, registration is free, so sign up and submit your entry. One entry of each type (story and color scheme) is allowed per person. TTG Staff and their family are not permitted to enter the contest. The winners of the contest will willingly turn over ownership of the background/story/fluff/Color scheme to TTG upon winning the contest. Prizes are subject to change without notice, as long as the dollar value of the object does not decrease. Please allow six to eight weeks for delivery of the prizes.
